Why We All Need A Vacation

Most people will already know where they’re going on holiday this summer, so if you haven’t planned yours by now then it’s time to think quickly and book now.

Category: Guide & FAQ

We often overlook the importance of rest and relaxation, and when we do go on holiday we sometimes take our work with us, on our minds or on our phones. It’s hard not to pack your BlackBerry, iPhone, iPad or a laptop but sometimes we need a break from the stress of everyday life. There are a lot of reasons why we should take a break and it can feel like you really need one sometimes. Here are a few you might find relate to you:

A Change of Scenery
A change of weather is relieving and getting out of the heat in the Bahrain this summer can be very refreshing. Every now and then, it is good to detach yourself from a familiar environment such as work or even your home. Having a short break from the city could potentially enable you to feel more inspired, more creative and have new perspectives when you return. The overall experience of going on holiday could also lower stress levels, help you sleep better and as a result; allow you to return in a better mood, even after the post holiday blues you may acquire!

If you''re lucky enough to have the opportunity to go abroad to enjoy great food and new experiences, then you could improve your overall wellbeing. Enjoy the fact that you don''t have to search around the supermarket, cook or plan meals ahead. Treating your body to good food will make you feel great- even if you have to watch your weight before and after to make room for it!

Enjoy Yourself
Everyone has different preferences and ways to relax, lying on the beach doing absolutely nothing, knowing that you don’t have to go to work tomorrow is enough to make someone’s ideal holiday. Going on vacation is a treat to yourself and your family and it often feels well-deserved, and holidays never occur as frequently as you would like, so make sure you make the most of it!

More Than Just a Holiday
Planning a trip gives everyone something to look forward to and get excited about. Entertain and please your kids with a ''fun'' holiday but don’t forget to find at least some peace and quiet to read a good book for one minute! Think about what you really want or need this summer and also consider finding the time to occasionally go on a holiday with your friends such as a ''girls'' or ''guys'' holiday for a change (maybe next year!)

Strengthen Family Bonds
Going away allows you to spend some well needed quality time with your partner and children, the whole family''s busy weekly schedule means the weekend never lasts as long as you''d like, and a holiday could help build and keep family relationships strong. Think about visiting yours or your partner’s family or even bring them along on holiday with you.

When planning a vacation, establish the reason you are going, this will give you an idea of what you want and help you learn how to make the most of your summer getaway. Holidays may not always be as relaxing and restful as we would like and they can sometimes be chaotic no matter how hard we try. Ensure that if you do travel, then you get organised and prepare for unforeseen circumstances by purchasing travel insurance with RSA.
